Hi, my name is Mark Reavey, and I’m a Service Technician here at SunnyMac. I’m proud to say that December 2025 will mark my tenth year with the company.

Tell us about your background in the solar and roofing industry.

There’s one reason I know so much about solar, and that’s my time here at the company. I have been fortunate to work alongside some great people, especially our CEO Matt MacFadden, who was very hands on when the company started. He was always on the roof working hand in hand with us. That was a great experience, and I got to learn so much on a daily basis. I also learned a ton about work and life from Rick Manero, our Lead Roofing Foreman, and Brian Cordi and Vince Delgatto, who are both Field Managers who have been with the company almost ten years, too. They are all truly great people that I am fortunate to call my friends in addition to colleagues. They are always just one phone call away.

I’ve had a couple different roles at SunnyMac over the years that have taught me so much and shaped everything I know about solar. The industry has changed and evolved a lot over the years, and like many things, there have been trends, new technology, different componentry used, but one thing is for sure — we focus on providing the best for our customers.

Having so much experience and seeing so many situations over the years has shaped me into a pretty knowledgeable Service Technician. I’ve seen so much, I can say with confidence that I’m able to service any solar system, and even handle servicing systems installed by other companies! There’s no reason for any customer in our area to wonder who can help them — we proudly serve Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. All the information we have is used to help our customers as much as possible. We offer great warranties, and are always here to help, should anything arise.

What does your day to day look like?

On a daily basis, myself and other Service Technicians are out in the field servicing everything from failed inspections to things like main service panel (MSP) or meter can swaps. The MSP/meter can swap usually takes place before the installation, and this is because it should be up to code and functionally safe. This is a very important job because the MSP is meant to service the home for around 30 years.

I’m also excited to share that we are now offering new solar system services to anyone in our area, even if the solar system was installed by someone else. We will clean panels (this is especially true if they have not been cleaned in many years, as this can impact their efficiency), install critter guards (these prevent small animals from nesting and living under the panels) or snow guards (these prevent any snow or ice from sliding off the panels, which can be important for customers, depending upon the location of the panels), diagnostic services (for those who have issues with their system, no matter who they are, we are available to help), and we install EV chargers (these allow EV owners to charge their vehicles faster and more efficiently).

On a normal day, I get to the shop (our Bethlehem, PA office) and ensure I have all the materials needed for the day ahead. My schedule is set from beginning to end, so I know exactly where I will be for each step of the day. I never know what the day will hold; it could be servicing optimizers or installing panels. As a Service Technician, you need lots of hands-on experience installing solar, and each member of our team has that, for sure. We are all pretty advanced and have seen it all. Sometimes we cross over into the installation world, and that’s a great opportunity to cross train and learn more. This allows us to see the installation from start to finish, which is cool. We are comfortable on any roof, and in any situation. I’ve also earned multiple SolarEdge, Enphase and Tesla PowerWall certifications.

How does your team help customers?

We always try to get out as soon as possible when customers need us. The Service team has staff both in the office and in the field. Each field team member has a dedicated office team member who sets their schedule, contacts the customer, follows up with the customer, and reviews any and all notes so they can provide detailed information and ensure they have everything they need.

We occasionally have meetings to keep up to date when there is new software available for us. The guys in the field are a tight-knit group. They all are. I love working with everyone and I love how dedicated we each are to delivering the best quality possible. Even when it comes to our customers’ time — we strive to get the job done in one day. We want customers to be happy and remember their experience with SunnyMac.

We also do upgrades – it could be replacing a roof, installing a brand new racking system or inverter, or we can also remove a roof and solar system, install a new roof, and then install the existing solar system back on top. We do this all the time. Many people don’t realize this, but SunnyMac has a 50+ person Roofing team, and when you hire us to install your roof, the contract is directly through us, unlike many other solar companies.

Tell us more about yourself.

I am a life-long, die hard Philadelphia sports fan. Being born and raised in Delaware County, PA, these teams are very close to my heart.

If you had one superpower, what would it be?

That’s easy — I’d be able to control electricity, like Thor. That would be awesome.
